12.1 Question

Hi guys!

I’m very anxious about 12.1 version coming out in 4 days. I would like to ask you a couple of things before, though.

Will the new version of openSUSE have that truetype font thingies and subpixel hinting preinstalled as Ubuntu does, or will we have to fix the fonts manually again? And how long will it take to have my favourite programmes (like Chromium, VLC etc.) available in the one-click section at software.opensuse.org for 12.1?

Thank you and best of wishes to every1!

fonts - I think you’ll need the Index of /subpixel/openSUSE_12.1/ repo added

Chromium - 17.0.022xx is in the main OSS repo

Vcl - you should use Packman (no codec issues) which has it, also available in KDE Playground repo Index of /repositories/KDE:/Unstable:/Playground/openSUSE_12.1

As best as I can tell all apps that openSuse provides should (are) be ready and Packman is pretty well along

Dear ayk87,

As 12.1 is stil not released, questions about it should be posted in the Pre-Release/Beta forum.

That is where the people that are testing 12.1 and have a general knowledge of it are congregating. In general posting in the wrong (sub)forum decreases one’s chance that one’s post is read by the right people.
