12.1 - No way to get network going, expecially wifi

I tried installing both dvds and cds of 12.1 beta2, RC1 and RC2, but no way for me to have a connection. Actually, from RC1 Lan works, but wifi (which is the one I need) doesn’t work.

In RC1 I tried, nevertheless, to ping mi router via wifi: it worked!
In RC2 it didn’t.

When I go in System properties and select network, it says something like “this service is not compatible with this version”, and there’s no trace of lan/wifi connections.

Since are RC’s I expected the network to work perfectly, so to be able to download updates and do troubleshooting from there, since now I’m posting under windows…

I hope my post could help developers…

Navigate to Yast → Network Devices → Network Settings.
In the Overview tab select your wlan and click on the Edit button.

In the General tab → Firewall Zone → External Zone

In the Global Options tab → User Controlled with NetworkManager

The rest is straight forward.

We need EXACT error messages.

My networks do function perfectly.

Not many developers here!

Without exact error messages, it is not possible to tell you what to check, but
you should check to make sure the firmware is installed for your card. In
addition, make sure that your wireless switch is on.

Thanks, this way works, now I can post from opensuse 12.1 via wifi (or lan, if I would like to).

@ lwfinger

I know you need the exact message, but since I had to switch between the systems I had to use my memory: the sense of the message was there, hoping you already knew the issue… Sorry!

To make me forgive I attach the screenshots of the system before trying Romanator’s suggestion.

This one says: System’s Network Services are not compatible with this version.

Last two images show how both eht0 and wlan0 were non active. This is strange, since using the live distro they worked perfectly.
I think they have to be activated by default, and in DHCP mode, so not to create problems to a non skilled user (like me :stuck_out_tongue: ) after installation. Expecially because if there’s no network there’s no chance to have help, unless you have another system to count on…
