I had to boot this very nice distro with parameter nomodeset. J tried to to save this parameter by using terminal yast as root. I think, that I must use systemconfig, but I am not familiar with yast. Could anybody help me ? Thank.
That’s interesting, do you have Nvidia graphics card there? If so it’s not just the KDE Live CD!
Re-installing or updating the kernel would definitely work, taking the DEFAULT_APPEND for kernel cmdline.
Thank you for your answer. I really have NVIDIA card, but there were these difficulties at the beginning of install my CD. I used Gnome environment. My system cannot work D-bus and therefor I cannot use your advice. I hope, that with next milestones the situation will be better.
I submitted it as bug.
Great, I think from what oldcpu found to the “nomodeset” on booting, because of issues with KMS is same as bug I created for KDE Live CD (because that’s where it was being reported first and I reproduced it with).
Yes, but Ishould add using nomodeset before installation on hard disc, when I should not installed NVIDIA driver. I think this bug is due to Nvidia card itself.
You can do it after, but there’s a development - replacement driver made available see the bug https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=707110#c6
I tried the same distro on the notebook with ATI card. There is booting without nomodest, but D- bus isnt working yet. I think, that next milestone would be better. Is there any possibility to repair it?
Yes, you can change the repos to Index of /factory-tested/repo/oss rather than 12.1 and pick up updates, which may help or hinder, but you best to join Factory mail list if you do that to keep “ear to the ground”. Is the D-bus problem reported in Bugzilla?
It’s not in the annoying bugs list openSUSE:Most annoying bugs 12.1 dev - openSUSE Right now I don’t have a clue what the D-bus issue is that you’re seeing.
No, isnt. I reported it.
