12.1 GMA500 can't change resolution

Hi all,

Got the LXDE version installed and runs pretty well but it is running on the 800x600.
My Vaio P is based on the well known GMA500/Poulsbo chipset.

Anybody know how to get my Vaio run the full 1600x768 resolution?

Hope anybody can help.

Best regards,

Rob

Some users are experiencing problems with Intel graphics hardware. Lets see what driver is reported first.

/sbin/lspci -nnk |grep VGA -A2

For a more complete picture, examine the /var/log/Xorg.0.log output. It will show what has been loaded, unloaded, any errors etc. Upload this output to SUSE Paste

and change the ‘Delete After’ to something sensible. Post the link to it here.

In case this goes to a linux video driver problem, have you seen this page from wiki-site.com? There is some information there about sources of latest driver for Poulsbo/GMA500.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.

Also posted the xrandr result.

Checked the wiki, had it running on ubuntu 10.04.
But then again I want OpenSuse to work.

I’m not familiar with the poulsbo driver (for GMA500 hardware), but you could try using the sax3 utility to configure Xorg for a higher resolution. You’ll need to manually specify the native resolution for your display.
