This happened to me at beginning of this week (approx). I had to change my flash RPMs from 64 bit to 32, then it came good again.
I have switched to 32 bit for these RPMs:
firefox (32)
google-chrome-stable (32)
flash-player (32)
Then I locked them so they can’t change versions
and for good measure I locked the 64 bit versions of a few other RPMs so there would be no conflict issues:
flash-player-kde4 (64)
pullin-flash-player (64)
I don’t know if this is the right thing to do, but it is the only way I could get rid of the bad 64-bit flash and get Firefox and Chrome working again with online flash.
I hate that I have to use 32 bit browsers and flash in a 64 bit system. I hope they fix the bad flash plugin soon.
I don’t know if you have the same issue or if this will work for you, but you can easily try it and then undo it if it’s not fixing your issue.
swerdna - I searched with software.opensuse.org: Search Results and found flash-player versions 11.1.x still available, installed 11.1.102.63-9.1.x86_64 and flash appears to be working once again. Don’t know if there’s security issues with 11.1 and whether I should use the 11.2 32bit but in the mean time I’m up and no worse then last week (or so I believe).
question should I start a new thread about Flash 11.2 64bit, as this is really more than a YouTube issue?
Probably not necessary to start a new thread IMHO. Two days or so ago I noticed some flash and browser updates and then again this morning, today some more interesting updates. I backed up my root partition so I could try the new versions. I switched back to 64 bit browsers and flash, unlocked the locked RPMs, and ran a full update this morning. At the end of it all flash was working properly for me again.
Flash is a bit finicky at the best of times in Linux, so I can’t say whether what I did would work for you, so if you plan to try it, first make a backup of the root partition so you can write it back if running an update wrecks flash for you.
Sometimes there’s more art than science in this stuff.
I did the upgrade yesterday and something went wrong with the sound. Flash sound became choppy.
It normalizes the sound if while playing flash, pavucontrol is open also, as soon as I try to close pavucontrol
the flash sound is choppy again.
