There is guidance here (the hard way (which is not hard)): SDB:NVIDIA the hard way - openSUSE
Note you may need to disable KMS for this to succeed (hardware dependent) which can be done by running “yast” (you can run yast in text mode with root permissions if X window not available) and navigate to yast > System > /etc/sysconfig Editor > System > Kernel > NO_KMS_IN_INITRD and change it to “yes”. This takes a minute or two to save once changed is submitted. (see below image examples). … It also may be necessary to have the ‘nomodeset’ boot code specified for the driver to build (again hardware dependent).

In Ubuntu, it has simple option to install the nVidia proprietary display driver.
Will the final release of openSUSE 11.4 have something similar?
In opensuse is simple to install programmes, drivers etc. Will be programmes, drivers etc stable?

Once openSUSE goes final, I would expect that there will be an AMD and nVIDIA repository setup to allow automatic loading/reloading of a current video driver just like there is for 11.3. Until then, you can always manually load the driver if you like. I also wrote a small script file to help in loading the nVIDIA driver the hard way if you would like to use it here:
LNVHW - Load NVIDIA (driver the) Hard Way from runlevel 3
Message #12 has the most recent version of lnvhw to use.
Thank You,
I have also written a guide about installing graphics card’s drivers ÎγκαÏάÏÏαÏη Drivers ÎαÏÏÏν γÏαÏικÏν NVIDIA-AMD ATI RADEON](http://forums.opensuse.org/greek/i-i-i-i/i-i-i-iui-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-isi-i-i-ioei-i-i-i-i/i-iui-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-documentation/453443-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-drivers-isi-i-i-izi-i-i-i-i-i-i-izi-nvidia-amd-ati-radeon.html)
The point is: Are drivers stable?
