On the recently-installed oS 11.4 RC1, KDE 4.6 is incorporated into the 11.4 repositories. The KDE 4.6 release repository for 11.4 (Index of /repositories/KDE:/Release:/46/openSUSE_11.4) is not, as yet, populated. In fact, it appears to be “under construction”. Further, it appears that KDE 4.6 updates are not migrating to the 11.4 repositories.
How might KDE 4.6 updates be incorporated into oS 11.4 RC1 ? Looking at the Factory/distro repository (Index of /repositories/KDE:/Distro:/Factory/openSUSE_Factory), it appears that the updates incorporated therein trail the KDE 4.6 Release repositories. Further, my experiences with the KDE Factory repositories under the 11.4 Milestones was problematic, particularly in the recurring dependency problems with “libxml.so.2”.
I have experienced some relatively small problems in KDE 4.6 under 11.4 (in Amarok and a few other areas) that appear to be corrected in the KDE 4.6 updates for 11.3. Thus, I m eager to find the solutions for 11.4 RC1 and KDE 4.6.
SeanMc98, I feel the point of installing openSUSE 11.4 is to find and report bugs in the original distribution. I, like many others, still update the video driver and even add in Packman to get multimedia working, but I am not sure anyone is yet worried about 11.4 repositories that have yet to materialize or compatibility with repositories not specifically intended for openSUSE 11.4. Seeing how short the time frame before the final release, I would just accept what you got, report anything that is a bug and be patient for the final release to appear. If openSUSE 11.3 is to be an example, it was many days after the official release, before a full repository for Packman and such appeared to be fully populated. Its just my opinion of the situation though.

i’ve been using oS 11.4 (factory) with KDE:Dist:Factory for quite a while
as my work environment, without any real problems. yes, for a while there
was an incompatibility with libxml.so.2, but i waited that out, choosing
the option not to install the new version, and after a week or so it got
resolved.
Added KDE factory repo, updated and working quite well. Several potential 11.4 problems resolved with the update (and no indication of the libxml2 problem !). This will save writing more than few bugzilla’s.
