I got 11.4 rc1 up and working. No major problems so far.
However, I have 2 questions.
Since firefox 4 that came with it crashes the moment its up, I installed manually 3.6.13. Now, I know that it was easy to change icon of a shortcut (KDE4) in previous version… Just clicking on it and selecting. But this one won’t let me. Is there a new trick to do it or a bug?
I have never had RC version before. When 11.4 comes out, what is the procedure of update? Do I need to make clean install, fix repos and do dist-upgrade or just zypper up resolves?

Thanks.
Right click on the menu icon (or the Firefox icon and pick icon settings) and elect to edit Applications. Find the Firefox entry, modify and save the entry pointing to the older Firefox, then save and see what you get AND/OR create a new Application entry, pointing to the correct application, save it and then add it to your panel or desktop as you wish.
To your second question I would HIGHLY suggest you do a clean install, though you need not format your /home area so as to maintain your personnel settings. This is what I suggest you do.
.
jdmcdaniel3 hopefully answered your questions. Now if you don’t mind, I have a couple for you:
Firefox4 does not crash for me the moment it is up. The fact that it does for you suggests this is highly repeatable and easy for you to reproduce. Ergo, did you write a bug report ? People who can easily reproduce a problem are the best people for writing a bug report and assisting in debugging the problem.
This is an RC version after all and bug reports are really really really wanted !
The best procedure/process is a fresh install. IMHO.
You can do an update, but IMHO if you need to ask this you may have installed RC1 for the wrong reasons. RC1 should have been installed as a test platform, and not an operational use platform. Ergo my next question, … why did you install RC1 ? Was there some driver/functionality in 11.4 that you needed that was essential that 11.3 did not provide ?
I agree with oldcpu’s various comments, but more importantly Firefox4 worked very well for me when operated from both the livecd and the subsequent HD install. I did have other problems, but gladly Firefox4 was fine OOTB with no crashes, for forum posting and eventually for streaming internet based video with Flash.
I found small problem, that I dont think it’s quite problem of RC, maybe of KDE.
I changed theme, and now, restart button lost it’s grub menu restart option. Anyone know how to get it back?
Ah yes, and another… after zypper ref, I get this:
zypper: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/libkdecore.so.5: undefined symbol: _ZN9QListData6removeEi

If you have RC installed already, just change to the final repos when they
come and do a dup. Zypper up will not be enough.
You can also install fresh again, but… what for? RC is almost GM.

Huh, no need. I forgot to say I read it in the forum side. My fault.
I just wanted to know if it was only my nntp or others had that problem, too.

It happens to us now and then, it depends on the mood one has at writing
