11.4 possible boot timing problems

Installed 11.4 MS 1 on one of my 320 GB disks. Basically everything works
and the new Nvidia Beta driver 269.4.36-rc3-15-default works greater. Better
resolution.

I have the option to single step through the boot process on. On my 11.3
system when asked it does not matter if I single step or auto step, there
are no errors. On my 11.4 setup I see boot:fuse failed, mcelog failed.
Before 11.4 MS one I was able to select yes or no for stepping thru the boot
process at that time I still say the above errors during auto start but
single step showed no errors. Now on 11.4 MS1 it does not reconize the
keyboard until after the question to single step or not. Once it gets thru
the boot process the keyboard works fine. That’s why I tkink its a timing
issue.

I will report this on Bugzilla. Anyone else seen this?

Hi Russ; How did you get 11.3 & 11.4 to single step? Haven’t seen anything like that in the Grub files or splash screen.

Thanks, Tom

Go into YaST -->System → /etc/sysconfig Editor → System -->Boot and set
Prompt for Confirm to Yes. Next time tou boot it will ask if you want to
enter Interactive mode, say Yes.

This will always ask until you go back and change Prompt to confirm back to
No.

The above is on 11.3, Cannot get to my 11.4 system now but I’m sure thats
where I set it on 11.4.

Hope this helps you.
