11.4 HTTP Server Missing

Hi,

I notice that at this point HTTP Server is not included in Yast for 11.4. Have they just not got around to putting it in or is this going to be omitted for release?

which http server are you looking for? i see apache2 in the factory OSS
repo (http://download.opensuse.org/factory/repo/oss/suse/x86_64/).

phani.

It is the Http server configuration utility listed under network services in the Yast2 control center in 11.3.

don’t know about that one. once i tried to use it, a while ago, and wasn’t
happy with the result. i find manually editing httpd.conf and related
files much easier.

Yes manually editting works fine  however I gave that http server configuration utility a whirl and I am able to add local dev web sites at the snap of the fingers. Works like a charm and saves time.

So far it’s been just a matter of adding YaST modules via YaST.
Like YaST > software > search yast > add what you need
Restart yast and you should have it, at least it used to be like this.
I don’t have an ML at hand right now

i just copy & paste a previous entry in the virtual host conf. file and
change the server name & directory entries, then add an entry into
/etc/hosts – don’t think that takes much longer…but that yast config
module may still be available somewhere. did you search in
http://software.opensuse.org/search ?

I take it that “factory” in the drop down means latest like beta. Otherwise the highest shown is 11.3. Looks like it shows up there as yast2-http-server. I will check it out tomorrow on that build.
Thanks!

yes, “factory” refers to the upcoming version of openSUSE, at present
11.4. and i’m pretty sure yast2-http-server is what you’re looking for.
good luck!

That did the trick and I learned a bit more about configuring openSUSE. Thank you!
