11.4 Compatible keyboards

Hi,

I bought a Logitech k200 keyboard as replacement for broken one, it is OK, but the number keypad on the far right does not work, this annoys me, so I have decided to take it back to Argos, I need to know which compatible media keyboard to get to replace it, please could someone point me in the direction to where there is listing on 11.4 compatible keyboards, so I buy a compatible board.

Many Thanks!

(other shops are available)

I am using a Microsoft Comfort Curve keyboard 2000 which is a wired keyboard on my main PC and it works great! I also have a Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 1000 on my HTPC and it works great! In general, while keyboards change all of the time and its hard to test every keyboard with openSUSE, I really think sticking with a MS keyboard would work best for you. Buying MS hardware is not the same as buying Windows and almost everything out there software wise will work with a MS keyboard in my opinion.

Thank You,

Thanks for your advice, Argos did not sell the Microsoft Comfort Curve keyboard 2000, so I bought the Microsoft Comfort Curve keyboard 3000, the number keypad on it still does not work, I might keep it for a while, though perhaps buying the 2000 on ebay, thanks!

Did you try the keyboard config in the desktop settings?

You tried two keyboards, and both the same failure? I don’t think the
problem are the keyboards. Rather some configuration issue.

I do not know, but I have the Microsoft Comfort Curve keyboard 2000 coming to me from ebay seller, which is listed as a supported model on keyboard preferences, so if that does not work I will speak to an it professional.

First of the keyboards was battery powered wireless and worked for a bit then stopped working, this one is a Microsoft Comfort Curve keyboard 3000, which I will return when the new Microsoft Comfort Curve keyboard 2000 comes, from research the Microsoft Comfort Curve keyboard 2000 is much better then the Microsoft Comfort Curve keyboard 3000 I an using, with more media keys.

Thanks for your help, I will update when need be for closer.

I’ve always preferred logitech kbds, and used three or four different wireless models without issues - some esoteric buttons sometimes take some work, but overall everything works.

I’d say that your kbd config is set to an old model, one of those without numpads. This is not usual, but should be easy to fix.

Can’t say I ever had one that didn’t work

Today I have received the Microsoft Comfort Curve keyboard 2000, I prefer it to the 3000, still the number keys on the far right do not work correctly, num lock on, makes no difference, anyone got any advice?

Many Thanks

Borrow keyboards from friends, try them. Don’t spend more money. I think
there is something wrong with your system.

Before trying yet more keyboards, has PastyPete done anything at all to
investigate any of the existing ones he’s tried? Several posts ago,
there was a request to try configuring the keyboard:

Have you tried that?
What does YaST say about your keyboard? (Hardware Information /
Keyboard) Please post the results in code tags.

Logitech MK520 works good, all buttons visible under xfce.
You just have to maunally map special keys, but all are recognized by system.
