I’m unable to set a default text editor since upgrading to 11.4.
Configure Desktop > Default Applications > Text Editor
Only has one option - Embeded Advanced Text Editor
It’s something named Mousepad 2.16.
I wish to use Kate or Gedit instead!
How are you using the Embedded Advanced Text Editor in which this would make any different? By that I mean I normally use a File Manager to find files that could be opened in a text editor. You can right click on the file and select Open With and pick any editor you want. If you pick Other, you can make this selection the default for any particular file type. Now, if I should right click on say an icon and pick preview, the default Embedded View does come into play, but I don’t see how this makes any real difference in how I would open files suitable for a Text Editor.
Don’t know why I didn’t recall that option, but it seems that portion of Configuring Desktop utility is still broke.
Now I have get opening php files again and line numbers and tag color coding
I was happy to provide a solution. I think the configuration of which you speak is perhaps not very well defined as to its real purpose and even kind of mysterious. Perhaps something only a true KDE programmer could love. We may never even know for sure. In any event, if you have any other questions, just fire away and we will see if we can help.
