I am having a weird problem. I am using raid1 and GRUB as the bootloader. When booting, it finds the boot partition with no problem when listed as (hd0,0) or (hd1,0), but in the middle of the boot process the console goes black and nothing comes up. The weird part is that if I add ro to the menu.1st on the kernel line, the machine will boot up and be mounted in ro mode. If I manually do a mount -o remount,rw / then it remounts and the system appears to run fine. If I remove the ro from the grub line, they system will not boot - the initial screens are displayed, but then the console goes black.
Any ideas?
