11.3 RC2 - Freeze after resuming from "Suspend to ram"

Hello,

i installed 11.3 RC2 (i586) on an Lenovo Ideapad s10e-netbook (ordinary hardware - Atom, 945 chipset).

System suspends to ram without problems, but will not wake up:

  • power-led / wlan-led amd fan goes on
  • screen stays black (even no backlighting)
  • tried (blindly) to change to console via ctrl-alt-f1 and to reboot with ctrl-alt-del. no response.

All i can do then is to hard-poweroff by pressing the powerbutton some seconds.

After reboot there are no abnormalitys in pm-suspend.log as far as i can

Unfortunately i didn’t tried older factory-versions on it, so no idea if this problem is new in RC2.

So, where to start now ?

Regards, user2304.

I have the same problems on two laptops and a desktop. The laptops (Gateway MX7340 and M675X) and the desktop experience(d) this exact behavior on 11.2, 11.3 RC1, RC2, GM and 11.3 Final release.

I believe this problem is already in bugzilla, and is a known problem. References to this problem are found in many areas of this forum, and is not (solely) a “Pre-Relase/Beta” issue.

The problem is more than a technical problem, as it affects power management in laptops, as well as the default actions of closing the monitor. While hibernation (which does work correctly, at least on GM and final) is an alternative, “standby” mode (aka “Suspend to RAM”) is equally important.
