11.3 Problem - system freezes

Hello everyone…

I’ve just installed OpenSuse 11.3 and I’m having some troubles with it…

Sometimes, (the most when I’m making changes in something, like the pager, appearance, theme, etc), the screen freezes completely (but mouse is moving) and I have to restart the system.

If I try it again, it crashes at the same point.

Sorry if this problem was already solved in another thread, but all I found were similar problems, not the same…

Sorry about the english…I appreciate if someone could help me ;X

Thanks.

Is this a nVidia graphics card / driver?
If yes, is there anything: sudo grep NVRM /var/log/messages

It would also help if you gave which desktop environment you’re running and the version of the desktop environment (example: gnome, KDE3, KDE4, etc.). I know in KDE 4.5 some were having trouble with the screen when changing appearance, themes, etc.

Take Care,

Ian

Nope…=X

I’m using KDE 4.5…

And yes, apparently it’s just related to kwin…
When it freezes, I just do “Alt+shift+F12”, to turn it off…and then again, to turn it on…and it goes back to normal…

It seems to be the same problem here:

I just downgraded for KDE 4.4…
It looks nice and running without freezes or crashes now…
