11.3 M5 No Shutdown or Restart Options

I can shutdown and reboot with the terminal as root but I have no option to do so with the application launcher or the Lock/Logout widget.

Right clicking the desktop>Leave doesn’t work either.

It’s not a big deal but it would be nice to shutdown/reboot normally.

TIA for any replies.

Shutdown/restart works in M5 LXDE installed from the 32-bit DVD. This may be specific to your desktop.

Did you write a bug report on this ? You could always as an interim write a script that says for a restart:

shutdown -r now

and for a shut down

shutdown -h now

and put an icon for each on your desktop. That may help until a fix is released.

Is this link correct. It takes me to a Nvidia issue. My problem is
as described in the earlier part od the thread. I (as user) cannot
shutdown 11.3 MS5 as user. It worked in MS4. Root works using
shutdown command. Need to try as user from command line. Hopefully
works.

Sorry I missed your last post, last line on Forum. I guess I need to
try reinstall of Nvidia (I am using 195.36.15) and allow it to build
xorg.conf file. Do not have one now. Then I’ll add your section.
