Hi All,
My 11.3 keeps dropping the network connection.
After a few minutes of websurfing, it decides to quit connecting to the router.
The windows machine behind the same router keeps working properly.
I disabled IPv6 and rebooted, but still doing same the thing.
The router is the DHCP server.
I have tested the CAT5e wire, and it works fine.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Heeter
Are You using wired or wireless connection to the router ?
Best regards,
Greg

Hi Glistwan,
I am using wired connection. I mentioned that I tested the cat5e wire and found no issues.
I did forget to mention that this particular machine had another operating system that had no networking issues until I installed 11.3
Thanks
Heeter
Maybe a driver problem. Could You post the result of
lspci -nnk
Best regards,
Greg

No problem about the delay.
This is your Ethernet NIC :

I have found and interesting thread on the CentOS forum describing the same problem You might be encountering.
www.centos.org - Forums - CentOS 5 - Networking Support - CentOS 5.3 problem with e1000e driver and 80003ES2LAN nic dropping connections
The solution for the reporter was to turn off “IO Acceleration Technology” in BIOS.

Thanks for great research on this topic, Greg.
I looked into the BIOS for this setting, but sadly, could not find one.
I am using an ACER L460 which doesn’t have many bios settings to begin with.
This thing was designed for vista (), but was working fine with Win7. I am unable to install other linux flavors on this thing, other than opensuse. The others just hang during install. the opensuse is working flawless, other than the network issue.
Thanks again, for your time.
Heeter
No problem. It wasn’t all that much helpful then. Maybe someone else will come back here with some better advice on how to disable this without using BIOS.
Best regards,
Greg

I think that this particular machine is just designed for windows, and that anything that I throw at it will not work properly.
Just gonna throw the windows7 back into it and give it back to the owner.
Thanks again,
Heeter
