11.3 Installation fail at 90% (step font initialization)

I am installing from the scratch a 11.3 on a PC on which previously 11.1 did run flawlessly. (Athlon 3700 with 3GB ram and Asrock socket 939 mainboard. Graphics is Nvidia. The installation comes every time up to 90% when it arrives at "font initialization). No error message is displayed. The little “cursor wheel” is still turning but else, there is no activity.
DVD from an sha1 checked and MD5 doublechecked download was burned with lowest speed in K3b and verified by the same program post burn, with full success of every verification.
Tried to change DVD reader but does not change the result. Runs speedy up to that step.
Any suggestion on what could be the issue?
Thanks.

Hi,

try to hit “ESC” during the booting. This will bring up a text console which tells you exactly what is being done, and where the boot process hangs.

Report back here then with the exact error.

Also, the instllation DVD has a disk check routine. I know this takes quite some time to run, but please run it on your installation disk - that way we can be SURE it’s not a faulty disk (I know you already checked from KB3, but that’s not the same thing).

SOLVED. The installation dvd was perfect. In order to install 11.3 on a DualVista Asrock 939 board you have to deactivate the high precision event timer (HPET) in the Bios of the machine under ACPI. Once the installation will be terminated, HPET may be safely reactivated without any further nuisance.
The installation ran through without problem, up to the very end.
Thank you anyway.

I did completely complete the SMOLT survey, for practically all components. But thank you to remind me. Greetings to Denmark (are they still eat salad with sugar-mustard sauce???)

i think the “sugar-mustard sauce” you speak of is a dill dressing
mostly served with very thinly sliced, cured salmon…maybe served on
a few leaves lettuce, but not always…

otherwise i’m not familiar with what you speak of…perhaps in nearby
countries…or, maybe you happened into a Copenhagen eatery
‘experimenting’ with ‘new’ dressings… [by some accounts the current
“worlds best” is Noma, in Copenhagen, they do what they want with
mustard! <http://www.theworlds50best.com/awards/1-50-winners>]

as far as i know no their experiment didn’t catch on, because no
“sugar-mustard sauce” is routinely served on lettuce based salads in
Denmark…that i’m aware of (and i know more about Danish traditional
cuisine than i do about Linux!)
