I normally run 11.3 with the desktop “folder view” but thought I would try something different - I think it was the search and launch view. After playing with it for a while I wanted to change back but found that right clicking on the desktop no longer launches the usual menu. If I change to “netbook form” rather than desktop, the menu is there, but even rebooting has not fixed the problem. Any help would be appreciated.
Still have the cashew at the top right???
You can reset the desktop by deleting all files that start with plasma in the ~/.kde4/share/config directory and restarting
Just create another Desktop Activity and remount your menu!
Tool Box (usually on right of desktop) > Activity > New Activity > Desktop.
I prefer the Folder…just because I like the straight management of files on desktop without open Konqueror/Dolphin!
Thank you gogalthorp! Getting rid of the plasma files did the trick. Incidentally, the top right-hand cashew was missing too.
Many thanks.
I always keep a copy of those files in a version that I know was good.
Then, if some changes lead to the problem you have experienced, you can always get back to the point you were before making changes. Otherwise, you have to rebuild all your widgets, etc. from scratch.
Good thinking - I’ll do that too.
