11.2M8 - No sounds from Amarok on Lenovo Thinkpad R61

This is one of only two problems I’ve encountered sofar with M8. I’m really impressed how it looks

But back to the problem:

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad R61 with HDA Intel (AD198x Analog) integrated soundcard, which works e.g. when booting the system or click Test in Amarok’s setup dialog. The backend is set to Xine, then GStreamer. As far as I can see, xine is properly installed, however I’m getting no sound from Amarok. When load a playlist and start the playback, it simply runs thourgh the entire list without producing a sound.

Any ideas? Do I miss some packages?

Thanks!

Tried
speaker-test -Dplug:front -c2 -l5 -twav as suggested on
sound trouble in M7 - openSUSE Forums and it works just as expected, sound from both speakers was clear. Alsa drivers diagnostics looks OK, at least to me. Esound server wasn’t started, and I started it now, but without success regarding Amarok.

Cheers!

I have the R61e
Not M8 though

Just try switching the Master Channel around in kmix

I tried poking it around a little, but still nothing. Thanks for you time, though.

Is your Intel device 1st like this

Yes, it is.

However, the problem was in Xine, or to be correct, in opensuse provided libxine. After installing those from Packman, Amarok plays mp3’s without problems.

Good you have that sorted. I should have given you this
