updated my secondary PC from 11.2 (KDE) to 11.3 M7 using the factory repositories and zypper dup
only needed to uninstall the nvidia drivers during the dup because of a “nothing provides ksym” message.
zypper dup itself went without issues and a reboot later was in 11.3 M7, here I ran into the following:
Failed services in runlevel 5: rng-tools, removed rng-tools via yast2, no idea why it was installed. Solved it by removing rng-tools via Yast2
each time I log in the system is standing still for a few seconds after which I get quick message above the login screen saying: synaptics “warning, the system does not support touchpad… something”, its only there for like a second so had to log in several times to be able to read the whole message. Solved this by going to personal settings > advanced > Service Manager and disable synaptics. No idea why it was enabled.
nvidia 256 drivers took a few attempts, and only after deleting the nouveau drivers in yast and then doing a new nvidia install did it work. This has to go smoother, I would think 9/10 people with a nvidia card will do this after update/installing 11.3. The nouveau isn’t there yet performance wise. Solved this by deleting the nouveau drivers via Yast2
each time I log in kresource migration tool migrates my default address book, it succeeds but still the next reboot it comes back. From what I seem to be able to find on google it has something to do with Akonadi, and although I see the message that Akonadi is starting I can find any entry for Akonadi under Systemsetting -> Advanced Tab where the google results seem to point at. Not been able to solve this yet.
each time I log in the update applet insists I have new updates, I figured a manual check for updates might help this but it never gets past “checking for updates”, no progression on the bar. Yast2 says all is fine, so why the applet hangs I don’t know. Not been able to solve this yet.
so except for the last 2 things been able to solve all issues, although still feel nvidia install should go easier but because of nouveau its a little more problematic then in 11.2
I got this on on a desktop pc following M6 to M7 zypper dup. Thanks, will try the fix.

I get Kontact/Akonadi hang problems on main userid. After updating KDE with KDE Factory repo, Kontact now crashes on startup.

***Not been able to solve this yet.***I disable update repo in Yast.
Milestones never provide an update service that way. It’s only there to prevent errors. It will work with Release version.
Thanks, removing the entry in services manager worked. Probably wise to stay away from kde/gnome factory. Have been applying the updates yesterday and today - some things seem better, but Kontact still crashes immediately (but better than watching the Akonadi pendulum zzzz…) and a few more closed unexpectedly messages. Most of it works well, with LXDE working better than KDE right now.
Xilanaz, Well done. The remaining probs on my test partition will probably disappear, as it is now in the hands of the Factory repos and unreliable for bug reporting. Hopefully M8 (RC1 IIRC) will see them gone.
