11.2 with Amarok 2

Anybody know how to get Amarok 1.X installed on 11.2? I updated to 11.2; and as far as I can tell it’s only got A2. I am REALLY DISPLEASED with A2 and want to go back to 1.4. I couldn’t 1.4 any where for downloads; as far as repos go.

Add these repos

kde3 repo
Index of /repositories/KDE:/KDE3/openSUSE_11.2

packman kde3
Index of /suse/kde3/11.2

Uninstall amarok 2

Open Software Management
Go to repositories filter, select packman kde3

select amarok packman
it should auto select the rest

Once it’s done, lock all those amarok packages and disable the 2 repos you just added

Why this step?
This way kde3-amarok never gets updated.

Chris Maaskant

This has been said before;)

@Chris Maaskant
IMO It is a better policy to lock it down. The OP’s system is kde4, all he needed was amarok.
Just my opinion though not a policy to stick to necessarily.

When I follow these instructions I come up against…

“nothing provides libtunepimp5 needed by kd3-amarok1.4.10…”

…and cannot find any version of libtunepimp5 that installs successfully. Could someone who has succeeded in installing 1.4.x please help me out?

Thanks.

search for that with the .rpm provides checked in Yast

Did you have the kde3 repo as well as the kde3 packman?

Answer #1 - Yes I did, but there were no hits.
Answer #2 - Yes I did.

I also installed with the option to ignore the dependency and got an error message on the Konsole which read…

amarokapp: error while loading shared libraries: libtunepimp.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Thanks for the suggestions. The mystery continues…

This file is in oss and packman

Thanks for the hand-holding. I finally got the correct library installed when I reduced the packman priority. I was getting a totally different version of libtunepimp that came with its own dependency problems.

Music is flowing out of my speakers without the complications of Amarok2 and all is well with my world.

Happy to of been some help;)

mer… Just re-installed … again… I got a similar error.

Except mine said libtunepimp5-mad.

Try this from a su terminal

zypper in libtunepimp5-mad

I got that much… I just never had any good experiences dealing with the mad libs.
