Having terrible issues getting my HP Pavilion DV7-3074ca working with linux, tried RHEL5.5 and getting really bad acpi errors with the i7 core cpu to the point where I can only run with 1 core.
Can anyone confirm that openSUSE installs correctly on this computer or even a similar model in the DV7-30XX family? That is the kernel loads with acpi=on and that all the cores are operational with turbo boost on?

It should be better with a more modern OS. Download and burn the 11.2
Live CD. That way you can try openSUSE without messing with your hard drive.
ACPI errors are usually a sign that your BIOS is badly coded, but some
of the problems may be due to an old kernel.
