11.2 mp3 playback, sound is terriable

Clean install of 11.2

I got the plugins installed as explained in other posts. But the mp3 playback sounds like a very old scratchy record, it is unbearble to listen too.

I have tried Ubuntu on this box and it plays mp3 fine. I do not want to use Ubuntu, I am more familar with SLES.

Thanks in advance for any support.

As you didn’t specify what you used:
Multi-media and Restricted Format Installation Guide - openSUSE Forums

http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:AudioTroubleshooting

Some users find the packman packaged xine engine gives better sound than gstreamer.

Still reading up on troubleshooting the issue. But I should add that all of the test sounds sound great. It is just MP3 playback is the issue.

FIXED! WOOT!

Found the fix here
PulseAudio - openSUSE

Glitches in audio playback

Edit /etc/pulse/daemon.conf: uncomment the default-fragments and default-fragment-size-msec, and change values from the default 4 and 25 to 16 and 21.

Please report back in bug 381686if this works or not for you.

I guess I need to report back to the bug report now
