11.2 KDE 4.3.x ATI Radeon 9250 lockup

This video card worked just fine in 11.1 KDE 3.5 and it had an easy to find “Hardware Acceleration” check box which was enabled. In older SUSE 10.x versions I had crashes that I resolved by turning off the hardware Acceleration. In 11.2 it crashes when testing some OpenGL screen savers. Permanent hard lockup type crashes, power off and reboot is the only recovery. I don’t like testing EXT3 partition journaling this way, but it has always recovered.

The old KDE 3.5 board name was RV280 5960. I have another machine with a Radeon 9200. Both are R200 chipsets. I can’t find xorg.conf in the 11.2 files.

Where has the new KDE 4.3.x “video card” configuration gone off to?

All I need to do is turn off the video card Hardware Acceleration, if I can find out where it now hides in KDE 4.3.x.

Thanks for any help.

There have been loads of issues with ATI and drivers, just search the forum.

The xorg.conf does not exist by default but you can initiate it by running sax2 from a su konsole.
