11.1 screen freeze during bootup

Trying to install 11.1 on a Dell 650 Precision workstation. It’s a dual Xeon, 2 gigs memory, a perc 3 RAID card with 3 Seagate 15k cheetas setup in RAID0. The install goes perfect, as the PC re-boots after install is complete I am able to get to a Suse Desktop, the mouse and keyboard appear to work then the system freezes! I cannot Alt-F to any other sessions. I have tried to boot to a Suse live CD and review dmesg and other log files, nothing appears to pop out as problematic. I have changed video cards twice, I even went from an AGP card to a PCI card with a second fresh install, same problem. The last working version of open Suse that worked was 10.1. I have also reformatted the drive array to ensure there are no remnants of the old OS. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
JL

what happens if you leave it on the logon screen?
what about if you logon and then leave it?
Does it only freeze with you interacting?
Or is it consistent after x time?

Anything in the logs?

what happens if you leave it on the logon screen?
It works fine, the keyboard and mouse work.

what about if you logon and then leave it?
it brings up the desktop then eventually locks up.

Does it only freeze with you interacting?
No, it locks either way.

Or is it consistent after x time?
its consistant.

thanks,
