11.1 / PPC - DVD drive recognition problems

Hi,

I have a 1.5 GHz G4 Powerbook 12-inch that I’d like to get 11.1 installed on. Right now I’m running MacOS 10.5 on it.

Anyhow, when I boot off of the DVD (which I’ve done the verify thing on from the text-mode installer menus before anyone asks) I get to the point where the graphical installer (text mode does the same thing) is probing the hardware and it then stops claiming it can’t find the repository.

I’ve dug around on the Interwebtubies and found out that hald was crashing so I whipped over to one of the open virtual consoles and started it, still no joy.

Anyone have any good ideas? I’d love to get OpenSUSE running on this little dude.

Run the media check from the dvd menu.
Sorry you said you did this, my bad.
Not too sure. I have seen this before.
