11.1/KDE4.3.4. folderview/updater

I´m using 11.1 and KDE 4.3.4.
the KDE repositories I use are the ones that are listed under “STABLE_ Latest official openSUSE release (KDE 4.3.4)”.

with the latest online update I have the following problems:

  • the folderview applet does not work. trying to add it to desktop or panel, leads to a red icon with a white cross saying that the component folderview is not available.
  • the updater applet is constantly saying that is looking for updates, without actually doing so. and with every login it again show the window for the settings.
according to yast, folderview should be available from the package kdebase4, which is installed from the repository xxx/KDE:/KDE4:/STABLE:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.1

the look and handling of some other apps (eg. WLAN) changed, but I got them working.

any idea how to make those applets running again?
did I mix up different KDE versions?

Make sure you are using the Default Desktop Containment on the desktop settings. Then unlock widgets and add folder (try anyway)

Updater: I hate the thing and have scrapped it as I have for years now.

I’ve encountered similar issue yesterday.
But I use suse 11.2 and another KDE repo (/KDE:/43/).

For me the root cause was that by some reason four core packages such as libkde4 and kdelibs4 had not been updated to 4.3.4 from the repo during the last vast update. Their version was 4.3.1.

I’ve downloaded them manually and installed with “rpm --force”.

Also I had to remove ~/.kde4

Now it’s ok.
