These are the problems that I encountered installing opensuse 11.1
-
Unable to keep the screensaver from locking session. – Fixed by editing the power management profiles to not lock the sessions on restore, besides the other two location that are looked at.

Had no audio of any sort, (SB0610). – Found to be a very screwed up mixer (Kmix) configuration. there were virtually no channels present on the mixer. Adding the missing channels for 5.1 channel sound, and the fix: adding the audigy analog/digital output channel . Unmutteing this channel provided sound. sound is always muted on new installs, I guess to save ones ears. Note: muting theoptical outputs gave a conciderable increase of volume.

Audio CDs were not seen by system – Adding the user to the cdrom and disk groups fixed tihs one. It seems as if it take a very long time for CD to start playing (any player i’ve tried.

No widescreen resolutions present for my monitor (ViewSonic VX2035wm), max was 1600x1200 – Fixed by manually editing the xorg.conf file to add the monitors native 1680x1050 resolution (also added moitors manufactuers name and model number).
The system now seems to functioning just fine.
