11.1 install hangs on HP 8530 notebook

I’m installing OpenSuse 11.1 from dvd (openSUSE-11.1-DVD-i56.iso) on an HP 8530w notebook (came with Windows XP pre-installed). When I choose the install option, it changes to the screen with the progress bar…but after very little progress the installation process just hangs.

Any hints?

I managed to start the install with option: acpi=off

I’ve read somewhere that ACPI is supported now in later opensuse kernels, can anyone tell me how to test/ enable this?
