Hi,
I am using a separate home partition to have some continuity, even if I decide to “upgrade” my Linux install by a clean reinstall. I also use an “experimental” partition to test other distros or RC of openSUSE. With RC1 I found, that compiz and the gnome-main-menu (at least) did break due to my existing old config files.
I could not sucessfully activate desktop effects until I changed to a new, empty home folder. Also, I found a partially broken menu, which did leave a configuration in my home where the menu stayed broken in Gnome 2.22, 11.0. This is not just an annoyance. This is something, that made me switch from KDE to Gnome, so it is of some importance for me. >:(
Gnome did upgrade fine from 2.22 to 2.24 though, as expected. So I would really appreciate, if the Compiz and g-m-m devs could think of their user base and avoid such situations in the future… :sarcastic:
Does anyone know, where I can “reset” the gnome-main-menu configuration to get my “system” sub-menu items back??
