11.0 ---> 11.1. No repos and can't register

After doing the 11.0 to 11.1 upgrade and not getting any updates via the updater applet or ‘update software’ via YaST, I manually changed the repos url’s from 11.0 to 11.1 but to no avail. Although these url’s are labeled by YaST as yum url’s, I can’t run yum either. (Not that I’d rather use yum.)
I tried doing the registration thing, but I get a “SSL negotiation failed” error, so I’m left without any repos to update.

Please advise. Thanks.

Yes! and… no.
Yes, because I get the following heartening message (I did it twice):

phenom9600:~ # rpmdb --rebuilddb
phenom9600:~ # zypper refresh
Repository ‘NVIDIA Repository’ is up to date.
Repository ‘Packman Repository’ is up to date.
Repository ‘multimedia_audio’ is up to date.
Repository ‘repo-non-oss’ is up to date.
Repository ‘openSUSE-11.1-Oss’ is up to date.
Repository ‘openSUSE-11.1-Update’ is up to date.
All repositories have been refreshed.

And no, because the gui still does not update anything and if I use YaST and “Online Update Configuration” the current update repos is “none”.
Is there another useful repos I am missing?

Thank you.

In SSL negotiation failed on update - openSUSE Forums explains you must execute as root this commands:

cd /etc/ssl/certs

for c in *.pem; do ln -sf $c $(openssl x509 -hash -noout -in $c).0; done

It has worked for me.

Thank you much.
This indeed solved the registration problem and it also added the updates repos. However, I received very few updates (maybe < 5) and am certain that 3 weeks after a release there should have been many updates. My system is extremely quirky since going from 11.0 to 11.1 and was hoping that initial bugs have been ironed out by now.

Being relatively new to Suse (11.0), I didn’t know that I can use zypper at the command line just like yum in other distros.
So I just did a “zypper update” and woa, it’s updating tons of packages.
If after the update (and reboot) the updater applet or YaST gui updater will still not function I’ll dump the gui and use the good old command line.
