**fdisk **/dev/sda

(p.ej. FDISK de DOS, FDISK de OS/2)

Orden (m para obtener ayuda):

Bios
I have Sata=AHCI

Sometimes it starts and sometimes not. the RAM is memtest OK.
The test detects a firmware in the micro hole 15 to 16 mb of memory. The rest is OK.

What can be?

PD: My English is very poor. This is with the help of a translator.

It is quite understandable.

But you may also go to FOROSuSE - Desarrollado por vBulletin

BTW, use

fdisk -l

not fdisk alone.

fdisk -l

Disco /dev/sda: 1000.2 GB, 1000204886016 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 121601 cylinders
Units = cilindros of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x0000b4d6

Disposit. Inicio Comienzo Fin Bloques Id Sistema
/dev/sda1 1 262 2104483+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/sda2 * 263 2873 20972857+ 83 Linux
/dev/sda3 2874 121601 953682660 83 Linux

Everything in your fdisk output and your fstab and menu.lst looks normaly to me.

When you have this not always, I am afraid it is a hardware problem. May be you should test the disk.

Anybody who can advise about a good one to the OP?

go to the disk makers web site and find and use their disk tester…

palladium

Good advice, I will try to remember that one when needed

I still have the same problem. Disk verified OK.

I opened a post in Spanish 11.2 y placa asus M4A785TD-M EVO - FOROSuSE

any more idea?

The bios have a Bug#564083 Debian-list

some links:

Bug#564083: error: fd1 cannot get C/H/S values on every boot with Asus M4A785-M - msg#01991 - debian-bugs-dist

Bug#564083: same problem on Asus M4A785TD-M - linux.debian.bugs.dist | Google Groups

What is the solution?

grub rescue> insmod /boot/grub/normal.mod
grub rescue> normal
