    Hello,

I am not understanding all of what you say. Are you using translation software (like Google translate)? That might be the problem.

There an HDMI connection, but also a VGA one. I tried both. Same problem.

And Dolphin has nothing to do with it. Is not even used when the pop-up emerges.

@hcvv you can switch off this popup window by disabling the kscreen2 module in systemsettings.

I admit that this post is very long and it will take time to read all and think over all there (thus my recap in post #69), but OTOH running into circles is not very effective.

Yes, I have also no idea why people are posting again. Except when they can tell us where KDE exactly goes wrong, or that they have a case with the same hardware that does not have the problem with e.g. 15.4, or have a new insight in this.

For my self I want to report here again after I upgraded that system to 15.4. Also I will of course re-open the KDE bug report when I then have a KDE version that they feel as supported (and still having the problem). But until then, I assume that there will be silence in this thread.

Well, I have another user that also has the problem (of course). Until now that user did not apply @tannington's correction. I could try out your's on it. But then I have to wait until my wife does not need it

I did something different. I compared from both users (the one with the tannington correction and the one without) what is in their respective ./.local/share/kscreen/.
    Both have:
    Code:
    beneden:/home/henk/.local/share/kscreen # l
    total 20
    drwxr-xr-x 3 henk wij 4096 Jul 7 13:04 ./
    drwxr-xr-x 23 henk wij 4096 Jan 8 15:41 ../

    drwxr-xr-x 2 henk wij 4096 Jul 7 13:04 outputs/
    beneden:/home/henk/.local/share/kscreen # l outputs/
    total 16
    drwxr-xr-x 2 henk wij 4096 Jul 7 13:04 ./
    drwxr-xr-x 3 henk wij 4096 Jul 7 13:04 ../
    -rw-r--r-- 1 henk wij 236 Jul 7 13:04 c21f969b5f03d33d43e04f8f136e7682
    -rw-r--r-- 1 henk wij 324 Jan 8 15:41 d80566da324a211e35bb3dab699d9dcb
    beneden:/home/henk/.local/share/kscreen #
(I will spare you the output of /home/marian/....., it is the same apart from username and timestamps)
I did a diff on all the files in the same place and with the same name (four of them): no difference.

Maybe I have to explain something here because some of the timestamps shown are far before system installation.

The system was installed and user henk was added during installation as usual.
Using user henk in KDE presented me with the problem of the kscreen pop-up from the beginning.
After doing some more "after installation" tasks, which included adding more users, I then logged out henk, used console screen #1 to login as root.
From there I removed the whole contents of /home and restored from backup all the /home contents of the broken system that this system must replace.
Log in from marian as well as henk brought them back to the situation they had in the now broken system as expected (almost 100%, the KWallet of marian looks empty and switching off the screen after 5 mins does not work). And of course they were traeated by the pop-ups this thread is about.
You may try to logout from KDE, remove ~/.local/share/kscreen and login again. A pristine folder is created and filled up with the following files:
    Code:
    erlangen:~ # find /home/tester/.local/share/kscreen/ -type f|xargs ls -lrt
    -rw-r--r-- 1 tester users 394 Jul 28 07:10 /home/tester/.local/share/kscreen/outputs/09d165d6c0f20db8b7455c57415ae3c6
    -rw-r--r-- 1 tester users 591 Jul 28 07:10 /home/tester/.local/share/kscreen/754ceb37bada586d5e0ba58a4a1f6fea
    erlangen:~ #
All four machines from the signature have a single monitor attached and data are obviously the correct one:
    Code:
    erlangen:~ # cat /home/tester/.local/share/kscreen/754ceb37bada586d5e0ba58a4a1f6fea

Read the thread from start to finish before you start making such posts. Henk has disabled kscreen service (many posts back).
