    All right, now every partition shows up here.
    And the missing config file was created automatically.
    Code:
    feuchter@linux:~/.config> more kded_device_automounterrc
    [Devices][/org/freedesktop/UDisks2/block_devices/nvme0n1p1]
    EverMounted=true
    Icon=drive-harddisk
    LastNameSeen=1.0 GiB Hard Drive
    LastSeenMounted=true

    [Devices][/org/freedesktop/UDisks2/block_devices/nvme0n1p3]

    Somewhat related to this: I couldn't hear it, but the user is complaining about the noise of the hard drives. We confirmed that this is indeed the source of the noise by spinning them down entirely.
    With default settings, they never seem to go into a low power/idle state.

    is this still the "right" way to make hdparm commands persist through a reboot with OpenSUSE Leap 15.3?

    It stops the partitions on these drives from showing up e.g. in Dolphin as removable devices. But of course, they are still flagged as removable media in lsblk.
    But I checked the removable device section before I did that, and it was exactly the same as it is now.

    I see this old thread uses boot.local. This might still work, but is not the preferred way.

    My idea is that this should be done by creating a systemd service in /etc/systemd/system/ .

    All right, I'll do it this way then. Thanks for your help.
