Re: Repair after faulty kernel update
Big disaster today....old versions boot up but with error message "Failed to start MACHINE CHECK LOGGING DAEMON"
Could log in after that but network was not configured, nor configurable. Same for my dual displays. How to recover that? Any advice?
I used to have a recovery version that worked but that is now also broken.

AW: Repair after faulty kernel update
Install the "new" kernel and see post #5 to copy the radeon Module to the new Kernel.
See bug.

thanks for the workaround link, I just hope I’m smart enough to apply it.
HP Compaq desktop Leap15.2, Win10, Win7
Toshiba laptops Leap15.2 & Win10, HP AiO Leap 15.2.
I can now print with openSuSe Leap! Can Scan now, could be better!!
I can backup my iPod and iPad with Windows, can't with Linux.(Will get there someday!)

OK , so after those of us that need to do the #5 bug workaround are going to face when the kernel is fixed, and another up date installs it. Will it overwrite the workaround, or just ignore it & put the fixed kernel where it is suppose to be?
BTW, that bug #5 workaround did it for me! Thanks for the link.

Re: Repair after faulty kernel update
Being the glutton for frustration and stress I tend to be, I booted the HP AIO and did the update.
It restarted as it should have. NO problems.
BUT it has Radeon HD (tm) Graphics, built into 5he motherboard.
Not a separate card.
Wonder why it worked, and the desktop needed that workaround?
Now to tackle the laptops!

Kabini is a teensy too new to be affected.

This did not work for me. 'preempt' and 'default' versions of the "new" kernel and a 'default' version of the "old" kernel are offered at boot-up. I have copied the radeon driver file to the default folder of the new kernel as suggested in post #5 of the bug. But my dual displays are unconfigured and unconfigurable. The network is also unconfigured and I'm lost how to get that working.
What now? Any ideas?
