    Default openSUSE-Leap-15.3-DVD-x86_64-Current.iso checksum mismatch

    Hi all.
    I download "openSUSE-Leap-15.3-DVD-x86_64-Current.iso" and "openSUSE-Leap-15.3-DVD-x86_64-Current.iso.sha256"
using the download button on https://get.opensuse.org/leap/ and checksum doesn't agree.
I think it is for a different file; contents of the checksum file are:
    Code:
    224fce99dd0904cab601804563f3e058347279be2e3bdda64b0c8d2e99178df5 openSUSE-Leap-15.3-2-DVD-x86_64-Build20.8-Media.iso
Output of sha256sum on .iso are:
    Code:
    >0deae0b74953acd951150ae9567e098d450f2ae91b2d0c0a610b9d934f91c7b1 openSUSE-Leap-15.3-DVD-x86_64-Current.iso
I have downloaded the file again and checked:
    Code:
    >0deae0b74953acd951150ae9567e098d450f2ae91b2d0c0a610b9d934f91c7b1 openSUSE-Leap-15.3-DVD-x86_64-Current_1.iso
So I think the download is ok, but a problem with the checksum.
    Thanks.

There seem to be a few issues with the new remastering policy. Maybe this one is also connected to it.

As this is confirmed by others, I think filing a bug report is warranted.

Hmm. The download site has changed recently. I'm seeing the latest as
    openSUSE-Leap-15.3-2-DVD-x86_64-Build24.5-Media.iso
with a file date of Nov 5. And now the "Current.iso" is an older file.

The checksum that you are seeing is the correct checksum for that older "Current.iso" (with a date from May).

Perhaps the "Current.iso" is not actually current.

    Some more complete information:

    I am seeing:

    Code:
    0deae0b74953acd951150ae9567e098d450f2ae91b2d0c0a610b9d934f91c7b1 openSUSE-Leap-15.3-DVD-x86_64.iso

    224fce99dd0904cab601804563f3e058347279be2e3bdda64b0c8d2e99178df5 openSUSE-Leap-15.3-2-DVD-x86_64-Build20.8-Media.iso

    e377fff244d36c3a1a03092d6f14230fdae8bd116dff638a2b3a41d89d51390a openSUSE-Leap-15.3-2-DVD-x86_64-Build24.5-Media.iso
I currently have those 3 isos downloaded, and have verified the checksum.

The first of those is for the original release, back in May.

The second of those seems to have disappeared from the download site. It was a re-release around Oct 29th.

The last of those is still at the download site and is the newest release. I have not tried to install with that one.

At present "*.Current.iso" appears to be a link to the first of those.

    Thanks for the clarification.
I am upgrading from Opensuse 15.1 and have stability as my priority.
    Would you recommend using the latest build;
    Code:
    openSUSE-Leap-15.3-2-DVD-x86_64-Build24.5-Media.iso
or should I use the one from May:
    Code:
    openSUSE-Leap-15.3-DVD-x86_64.iso
Thanks to everyone for the fast responses.

I would guess that the latest build is the best choice. But I have not yet done a test install, so that's only a guess.

Any of them should be okay for what you are doing. Maybe just use the one that you have already downloaded.

The theory is that the latest build will have all the patches until the date of the build. Thus when you install the original and then do a zypper patch (or zypper up), which is of course strongly recommended, you will end with the same situation, but it will cost you the extra time, work and network resources for the update.

Okay, I will be brave and use the latest build.
