Checking restore of application windows after clicking on “Show desktop”

I occasionally used the functionality “Show desktop” (also by clicking on the corresponding button in the panel of KDE Plasma 5.22.5).
I observed recently that my application windows do not get restored then as expected (after a few additional “desktop shows”).

I would appreciate your advices for fixing such undesirable software behaviour.

Do you see the expected software behaviour still after four clicks on the widget “Show desktop” in the panel?
