    OK, understood.

    Code:
Sep 24 14:14:18 laptop kernel: rtw_8821ce 0000:02:00.0: failed to get tx report from firmware
    I do not know.....

    But its working.
Are you using 2.4G or 5G and do you notice any drop in bit rate with rtw88? When using the rtw88 I'm lucky to get 67% of the bit rate achieved with rtl8821ce.

2 antennas and 292 Mbit/s looks like 802.11n, not ac.

    https://paste.opensuse.org/view/raw/e3d5335b
    434 Mbit/s looks like 802.11ac with 1 antenna.

I will be the first to admit, my knowledge of wifi software/hardware is minimal. Those are from the same hardware (laptop and router) but with the two different drivers, the first is the rtw88 and second rtl8821ce.

Try to change used settings for WiFi net (WiFi standard, bandwidth, channels, ...) with access point.

OK. Thanks guys, I'll let this one rest.

I've demonstrably proved the difference in link speed is due to the driver in use, rtw-88 consistently less than the rtl8821c, for the same hardware, in the same physical location, using the same router settings and link frequency.

I don't know how initial and ongoing link speed is negotiated, signal strength/quality?, number of errors?

Anyway, if I had to speculate on the difference between the two drivers, I would suspect the rtw-88 is more conservative and sets a lower link speed for any given signal condition; alternatively, but perhaps less likely, is some quirk of the (hardware) wifi implementation on this laptop.

Once again, thanks for you comments and assistance.

Default AW: c and wifi = problem

When rtl8821ce is your choice and its working, use it as it will be there.

Otherwise ask me for helping when I will delete it.......

But that will be after Leap 15.3

    Thanks.

I'm thinking it's likely that I'll use rtw-88 after you remove rtl8821ce from you repo. Most of the time the drop in link speed will be of no practical consequence.
