    Default Window management help requested.

Having some issues with new trackball and KVM switch. To aid in diagnosis I wish to delete or disable a window so I only have one window in my taskbar and cannot switch windows.
Looked at Workspace/window management but spoilt for choice but no one control seems right. Can somebody help me please.

Is that what they are called? Not many virtues left I'm afraid; in the bottom left end of my task bar however there is a small blue square divided in two by a horizontal line which enables me to switch between desktops. I seldom use this and now I wish to turn it off so I only have one desktop. No idea what this widget is called but I think you will understand what I mean. Sorry if my terminology is inaccurate.

    Hi Malcolm,
    Feelings of deja vu.
I am relocating my workstation but not my computers so KVM will be even more important. These days even the physical device is controlled by software. Sadly the more mechanical trackball died and the new one seems to have a mind of it's own when it talks to my system and one involuntary action which I wish to eliminate is switching between desktops. (The other is switching between computers!)

    Time flies when ...

Hmm. KVM can mean "Kernel Virtual Machine". But it can also mean "Keyboard, Video, Mouse" which is something entirely different. I have a KVM switch, though it is not in current use. It is to switch between which of two running computers use those peripherals.

OK, so you want to have a single Virtual Desktop. First question is what desktop environment are you using? Sounds like Plasma, in which case go to Settings -> System Settings. Launch "Workspace Behaviour" and "Virtual Desktops" is near the bottom on the left. You can then just delete Desktop2.
