    Default AW: rtl8821ce wireless

I do not know, what we can do more.

Have you tried openSUSE Leap instead of Tumbleweed?

i was going to do some troubleshooting on my own, but i first decided to re-run "journalctl -b | grep -i rtw"

    Code:
    ichliebesusanne:~ # journalctl -b | grep -i rtw

it looks like people have had success using this guys stuff: https://github.com/tomaspinho/rtl8821ce

well, some people. i wasnt the only person who couldnt get it to install. its looking for kernel headers in lib/modules/xxxx/build or */source.

i dont think upgrading my kernel to 5.9+ is an option. and i installed just about anything remotely resembling headers.

from what i read, most distros dont have it working. not going to try to use the windows driver again. i also went back and tried your repo, and the other two repos i was using before, both with and without blacklist.

you seem very confident that leap is working.

i dont understand how it could be that leap could be working flawlessly, but tumbleweed isnt working. ill let the kernel and distro update and see if anything changes. wireless adapters for usb were inexpensive a decade ago when i bought one, i imagine i can find one that can replace a direct tether line with my phone. it is much less of an inconvenience to tether than i am extremely annoyed that i cant figure this out.

thats interesting to know. when i clicked before, the most recent response was less than a week old. i suppose this isnt really a suse-only issue.

i went ahead and got a cudy ac650 off of amazon for like 10 usd. it didnt work initially, but was recognized via lsusb. the rtl8821cu-kmp-default from your repo worked like a charm after a reboot.

    Code:
    matt@ichliebesusanne:~> su -l
