  1. #1

Default kdeinit5 closed unexpectedly after upgrade from 15.1 to 15.2

After upgrading from 15.1 to 15.2 using the
    Code:
    # zypper --releasever=15.2 ref
    # zypper --releasever=15.2 dup
... route, I get this pop-up screen every time I right-click in Dolphin.

The Developer Information Tab says this:

Any thoughts? Anyone. It is user related. No problems with other users!

Does it still occur if you disable Baloo's file indexing?

(KDE) System Settings -> Search -> File Search

Uncheck "Enable file search" (Apply and exit system settings). Re-login to KDE.

If that "cures" the problem, then with Baloo still disabled, temporarily rename ~/.local/share/baloo/ to, for example, ~/.local/share/baloo-old/. Re-enable Baloo file search, re-login to KDE.

OK. Glad all is working again.

If you're using Baloo then a new ~/.local/share/baloo/ will have been created with new index files after indexing completes. Once you're satisfied all is working as intended the the temporarily renamed ~/.local/share/baloo-old/ can be deleted.

Question Re: kdeinit5 closed unexpectedly after upgrade from 15.1 to 15.2

My issue is similar, but slightly different.
I upgraded from 15.1 -> 15.2 using the upgrade option from the openSUSE 15.2 ISO on a thumb drive.

Kdeinit5 closes unexpectedly immediately upon login (no right-click required). The "disable file search" suggestion by tannington does help in that the error doesn't seem to reoccur every few minutes, but it does happen at each login.

Here's what I get in the Developer Information tab:
