Thread: some buttons do not work in firefox

  1. #1

Default some buttons do not work in firefox

I have just found that some things do not work in firefox:
the lock in the url bar which normally shows a information menu, the "shield" button showing information about encryption, the button at the right of the bar to show settings......

    MozillaFirefox-80.0.1-lp152.5.1.x86_64 from mozilla repo

It is the same with a new profile and in safe mode.

I have downgraded to 78.2.0 from Update repo. I can't use my profile so I have to do a new profile. With this version and a new profile it does not work either.

Maybe it is not a problem of firefox but of something different?

    best regards

Using the same version (80.0.1-lp152.5.1) here and all works as it should.

For example, https://paste.opensuse.org/view/raw/4da44890 the other "buttons" you quoted also work.

I don't have a solution, nor indeed any suggestions, as you've tried the obvious. You could try with a new user to see if that's afflicted.

One thing I have just thought of...

Might be worth trying, with Firefox closed, deleting it's startup cache at ~/.cache/mozilla/firefox/

    It didn't work

With other user does not work either, nor with a newly created user.

Running firefox from console I have found this

Can confirm. Brand new installation of LEAP 15.2 on a new laptop.

Firefox does not respond to URL clicks passed to it by Thunderbird.

Firefox will not take input on the URL bar ("www.google.com" <ENTER>)

Firefox will not let me sign in to sync.

Every time I switched versions from buildservice (the most current, 80 something like the original post) to the install ISO to the current version on the main repo, I would wait a bit, dump ~/.mozilla/* (except the seamonkey directory), sync, make sure no firefox is running (ps aux | grep fire), then try again.

No version of firefox works with my installation of OpenSUSE LEAP 15.2. None at all.

Also tried going to main update repo after dumping ~/.mozilla AND ~/.cache/firefox etc still doesn't work.

In addition, the buttons the original poster described do not work for me, either.

Uninstalling Firefox from my machine, then downloading it from the Firefox website (tarball?!) to /tmp and running ./firefox leads to the same unresponsive Firefox window but with the following error messages. I had to run all the error garbage I got through uniq in order to comply with 15000 characters rule:

I've *no* idea what the problem may be...

    I've this version:

AS I have tried some different versions of firefox, and for what other people is reporting when it is failing it is failing no matter what version but for other people is working fine with the same version, I think we should look at other things. As it isn't also a problem of the profile I'0m wondering if it would be a problem with GTK or some other library behind
