Ax25 Setup

Good Morning Team,

I wonder if someone can advise, I chose 15.1 Leap, because it says there is support for AX25

Can some one tell me how to basicly setup AX25 Please

Is this a ready to go thing, as it is built into the kernel

Thanks in advace from Alan

Please, what is AX25???

Good Morning, it is a method of networking used for packet radio, the ax25 is a standard used on the 44 network buy ham radio people,
and is still inn use since the late 80’s the biggest problem, is the ax25 standard alone will only work on ubuntu 14.04.06 so oout of date…
It was include in Debian OS but died so I am told on version 7, so I look around and found openSUSE 15.1 Leap has it built into the Kernel

Now as I have never used it as a built in option, I was looking for pointers of how to use it…

All the best from Alan

Install ‘opi’, then run

opi ax25

It does give some results, but to be honest, I know nothing about ax25 either.

#Thank you, but that information is for downloading ax25 modules and installing them, which only works on Ubuntu 14.04

What I need is to know how to access the in built ax25 functions of openSUSE 15.1

All the best from Alan

opi

OBS Package Installer (CLI)
OBS Package Installer (CLI)
There is no official package available for openSUSE Leap 15.1

#Thank you, but that information is for downloading ax25 modules and installing them, which only works on Ubuntu 14.04

Its for openSUSE 11.1…

So I would do it…

Hi
Have you installed ax25-tools and libax25*?

These are the support utilities required to make use of the internal
AX.25, NET/ROM and Rose support in the linux kernel. The ax25tools are
mostly configuration utilities, applications can be found in the
    package ax25apps.

Leap 15.1 kernel does not include ham radio support. You will need to build necessary modules yourself or use other kernel.

Bu I was told it was installed in 15.1 so I thought blindly I would give it a try

What exactly you do not understand in “AX25 support is not present in Leap 15.1 kernel”?
