    @fleamour:

    There's a “System Information” Plasmoid: “Hard Disk Space Usage”.

    Alternatively, install the “kdf” package but, that's not always on the Desktop …

    To run the application as an applet in the systemtray, use System → KwikDisk in application launcher.
    For removable devices – USB sticks, DVD, Flash cards – there's the “Storage Volume” Plasmoid which, should have been activated by default …

    Does the device notifier (in system tray but widget can be added to desktop as well) not work for you?
