Hi everyone.
I am trying to use WPS office (WPS Office Multi-Language from snapcraft).
LibreOffice works fine, but my wife needs a Microsoft excel like experience for work. WPS looks closer to that she will encounter at work.
The problem are the accents. As I use a portuguese brazilian keyboard (ABNT2) and the accents do not work properly.
I tryed to follow this youtube tutorial but no results.
In order to follow the tutorial I installed iBus from repositories. Maybe I will find that the work around do not need iBus.
Again. My accents work perfectly well anywhere but in the WPS office apps.
Although all the menus are in Portuguese, and the language set up is set to Portuguese Brazil.
Thanks
WPS version: WPS Office Multi-Language (10.1.0.6757-multilang)
Plasma KDE 5
Opensuse 15.1
Keyboard PT Brazil (ABNT2)
I’m sure people will need to know more about how your system is set up before they can offer suggestions.
You’ll need to describe exactly how you configured your system’s language settings (ie is your Portuguese Brazilian set up only for the application, the Desktop or the global system?). What is your primary language on your system if it might not be Portuguese Brazilian? And then what secondary languages might be set up?
I also found the person who likely has done the most work providing translations for Portuguese Brazilian, if you find translations which should be improved, you can message him directly. The following page lists the translators for every supported language in openSUSE. https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Localization_team
From your description, it does sound like it’s a problem with the way your WPS was compiled or how snap works.
Recommend…
Yes, try installing in a virtual machine to see if it works.
Do an Internet search for anyone experiencing the same kind of problem on any distro.
Try installing another similar application from the snap store and test to see if you see a similar problem.
Then report all your findings… If you see the problem in other snap applications, I’d recommend starting with https://bugzilla.opensuse.org.
If other snap applications don’t have the same problem, then I’d recommend reporting to the bugzilla at snapcraft.
If you see the problem in your virtual machine, then perhaps I’d suggest installing WPS using some other method than snap… Maybe a direct install on openSUSE or use a different container technology.
