    Thanks for posting this. The only difference that I could see was that you have many more items in the dock. As noted above, I failed to turn on compositing (because I didn't know I needed it or even that it was off) and now it works.

    Just did the most recent update and it shut off compositing when I rebooted. Is this normal? Is there a way to leave it on permanently? I've already gotten used to Latte and I don't want to lose it!

    No, that's not normal. But perhaps plasma doesn't like your graphics card.
