Thread: Can Raspberry Pi 4 run openSUSE LEAP 15.1 ?

Lightbulb Re: Can Raspberry Pi 4 run openSUSE LEAP 15.1 ?

    Hello everyone,
I've got a RPi4 and finally wanted to get away from Debian (I just love my Tumbleweed).
openSuSE for ARM uses U-Boot to start Grub, from Grub they load the kernel.
U-Boot on the standard ISO does not support the RPi (yet).

But you can just build you own arm64 kernel and start it directly from the firmware, just like Debian boots.

I'll post an instruction. For the impatient, here is my /boot:
    https://drive.google.com/open?id=1yk...lafesmTsDKk7ud
    And the modules:
    https://drive.google.com/open?id=1F1...MqBweQBjeKLwDh

    - Change total_mem in efi/config.txt for your model.
    - kernel8.bin is a 5.2.5 with make bcm2711_defconfig.
    - Tested with tumbleweed, should work with Leap also.
    - Better get a serial cable to check the output. Also enable BOOT_UART according to
    https://www.raspberrypi.org/document.../booteeprom.md

    Hi, Alex,

could You, please post an instruction?
I have tried it with the files in the archives with Leap 15.1, but the raspi 4 could not boot.
The I realised, that Tumbleweed already has everything to boot the Pi4, but I just got a blank Screen.
    I may did something wrong.

    Thank You
