    Question MATE Desktop Indicators.

I have installed openSUSE Tumbleweed with MATE DE and I want to add the advanced indicators like in Ubuntu-MATE?

I have installed Ayatana AFAIK is called but doesen't display any indicator just text saying "No Indicator".

    Using your link,
The following page can be reached

    https://ayatanaindicators.github.io/code/

That page suggests that it's available only on Debian/Ubuntu.
There is a link on the page that provides guidance for anyone interested in modifying for use in other distros, but skimming that page (not dated so could have been written any time since Jan 2018) it looks like only partial work was done making the code less Debian/Ubuntu dependent.

Considering the project itself is an attempt to revive and maintain a concept being deprecated in Gnome, I don't know how much interest and effort has been invested in this tech. You can ask around at Launchpad project to see how active it is, where they're at and if they're ready to port to other distros yet...

This kind of thing can happen when early management didn't have the foresight to set proper goals, if the code was distro agnostic in the first place they wouldn't be having these kinds of problems...

I will ask there, Thank you for the reply!

Edit: I see that the applet is available on software.opensuse.org https://software.opensuse.org/packag...dicator-applet but it seems that is not displaying or I'm doing something wrong.

    Good to hear.
Am guessing now that I was searching "indicators" when they're not packaged up together, apparently each indicator is packaged separately.
