Default Dell Laptop - Audio problem

I've just installed Opensuse Tubleweed with KDE on a Dell Latitude E7450 and I cannot make sound work.
The sound icon shows a "red minus" sign.
Audio Volume Devices panel shows "No input or output devices found".

YaST -> Hardware -> Sound shows two Card Model:
    - Broadwell-U Audio Controller
    - Wildcat Point-LP High Definition Audio Controller
They were not configured by default so I clicked on Edit -> Quick Automatic Setup.
Now they are configured as sound card number 0 and 1 respectively, with Driver snd-hda-intel.

    hwinfo --sound shows:

    Code:
    linux-dsro:~ # hwinfo --sound

    Speaker test result is:

    Code:
    linux-dsro:~ # speaker-test -c2 -l5 -twav

    speaker-test 1.1.7

    Playback device is default
    Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels
    WAV file(s)
ALSA lib pulse.c:243:(pulse_connect) PulseAudio: Unable to connect: Connection refused

    Playback open error: -111,Connection refused
Is there any other test that I could do to understand what is wrong?

    Thank you,
    Max

It seems that logging in the system as normal user everything works fine.
Maybe the problems I described above were caused by some kind of limitation for the root user that I'm unaware of.
    Thank you,

You should never ever log into a GUI as root. There is never a need to do so and you can inadvertent damage things
